Rapidly emerging as one of contemporary folk’s most compelling new voices, McGovern’s poetic lyrics and intricate fingerpicking style has earned him extensive acclaim across Irish and UK media (BBC Album of the Week, RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ Lyric FM, Hot Press, Americana UK).
One particular viral moment saw him shoot to prominence in late 2025. Irish actor Paul Mescal recommended his breakout song “Evelyn” in an interview with BAZAAR, skyrocketing the song to audiences worldwide and surpassing 2 million album streams.
McGovern’s latest album Thin White Road (2025) expanded his folk roots, seeing him lean into a rich, cinematic sound of full-band arrangements with layered harmonies, saxophone and strings. The broader sound has translated beautifully to the stage, promising a compelling live show.
Based between Glasgow and Co. Cork, the Autumn tour sees Michael McGovern make his highly anticipated return to both sides of the Irish Sea.
