Eurovision Asia 2026 in the Works?

Eurovision song contest, Eurovision Asia is rumoured to be hosted in Bangkok in November 2026. A decade after the original announcement, Eurovision Asia seems to be in the works again.

As reported on by Eurovoix World, a seemingly official site under the name “Eurovisionasia.com” was launched only to be taken down overnight. The site showed details of the contest to take place on the 14th of November 2026 in the capital, Bangkok. Several countries were announced as competitors, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Not Official

With no official announcement or hints from the official organisation behind the Eurovision song contest the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), there is no way of knowing if the information from the site is factual.

A history of delays

The concept of Eurovision Asia is not new. It was first proposed in 2008 and set to be held in 2009. Unfortunately, it was delayed multiple times and was never materialised. The contest gained momentum again around 2016 when Australia’s SBS broadcaster became involved. Over the years, launch dates were floated for 2017 and 2019, but the project contest still never happened. By 2021, SBS shelved the project.

More than a rumour?

For now, Eurovision Asia remains more rumour than reality. But the sudden appearance of an official looking website and a proposed contest date has sparked speculation of the contest becoming reality.
