William Shatner known best for his role as Captain Kirk on Star Trek announced that he will be releasing his first heavy metal album at age 94. “At 94, one does not slow down. One turns the volume up,” said Shatner via his social media post.
Get Ready to Headbang
The announcement of this album came from Shatner’s social media. On the post the Star Trek star revealed that the album will include thirty five tracks. This includes covers of heavy metal legends like Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden and Judas Priest. As well as some very much anticipated original songs from Shatner.
“So prepare yourselves. We are about to boldly headbang where no one has headbanged before,” said Shatner
Not the First Time For Shatner
Although this is the first heavy metal from Shatner, this is not Shatner’s first time exploring the music scene. Shatner first started his music career in 1968 with his spoken word album The Transformed Man. Since then Shatner has experimented with genres such as spoken word, rock, country and even Christmas songs!
An Varied Career
From beloved actor to musical artist, William Shatner has had a diverse career. He is most known for his portrayal of Captain Kirk in Star Trek. Just recently Shatner has battled with stage 4 melanoma but has been successfully treated and has no plans of slowing down in the future. He has not officially released a a date for the album’s release. Yet he has alluded to it being dropped sometime this year.
