The news just dropped like a bomb this morning: Oasis split again.
The legendary band from Manchester had initially split in 2009 before stepping on the stage for their set at the French festival Rock en Seine. The two Gallagher brothers then spent a long decade exchanging abusive comments regularly over interviews and social media. They finally decided to bury the hatchet last august when they released this statement: « The guns have fallen silent. The stars have aligned. The great wait is over. Come see. It will not be televised. ».
It would seem that the peace was short-lived. Indeed this morning, Liam Gallagher’s social media released the following statement: “Some things just ain’t meant to be. Live forever, but not together. LG x ». Shortly after he posted: « Can’t be arsed with this no more. You lot can thank a certain someone for that. As you were. LG x » followed by a potato emoji.

Creative Differences ?
It remains unclear what stirred the pot this time. It seems clear enough that the relationship between the two brothers is still rocky. One can only assume that some deep creative differences remain, as Liam’s contributions to the band has often been overlooked. A couple days ago a rumoured setlist for their upcoming tour was leaked: none of the song written by Liam had made the cut. In the past, the band often managed to include one or two of Liam’s contribution in the setlist (Songbird, I’m Outta Time…). But not this time.
A huge financial blow
When contacted about the news, the promoter for the upcoming tour expressed concerns about refunding the tickets. Last summer, the band sold out the whole tour in a matter of hours. The dynamic pricing solution that applied for this tour caused uproars by the fans who faced exorbitant prices. Standing ticket originally price £73 went up to £300+ in some situation because of the outstanding demand, while some premium package starting around £500 knew the same fate.
Even with insurance, refunds will deal a huge blow to both the promoters and the band… The distraught promoter admitted to us, with their voice cracking under emotional strain, that at this point they don’t have the financial back up to refund the tickets. A GoFundMe page, for £1.5bn, should be put up soon on behalf of the band and the promoters to help refund the tickets. As a reward, the donors would receive cancelled tickets signed by Richard Ashcroft who was set as the opening act for the tour.
Noel not too concerned
Noel Gallagher, however doesn’t seem too concerned about the news. When we asked him about it he replied: « I dunno what to tell you. Our Kid is always full of surprises. But this announcement smells even fishier than his fashion choices… Very foolish decision. »
