TORANN: Galway’s Explosive Metal and Punk Festival

The City of the Tribes will host a brand new festival, presented by Strange Brew, next January. TORANN will offer an explosive weekend of black metal and pure punk power. The loud weekend full of energy starts on Friday, January 9th, and runs until Sunday the 11th, promising three nights of raw energy, unforgettable live performances and pure DIY spirit. With numerous locations scattered across Galway, including Roisin Dubh, Sally Long and The Loft. Expect for a stacked line-up full of black metal, melodic doom, and powerful vocals.

The legendary metal band, PRIMORDIAL, will be headlining on Saturday, 10th January joined by Death the Leveller and Genuflection.

PRIMORDIAL

Primordial means the earliest stages of development, so it should come as no surprise that PRIMORDIAL were the first black metal styled band to emerge from Ireland on an international scale around the Summer of 1993. Originally formed in Skerries, Dublin, in 1987, the band has gone on to release several EPs and albums while building up a steady fanbase of over 34 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify. Most famously known for their albums “Spirit The Earth Aflame” (2000), “The Gathering Wilderness” (2005) and “To The Nameless Dead” (2007).

Death The Leveller

Death The Leveller is set to follow alongside PRIMORDIAL on Saturday, 10th. Known for giving powerful, emotive vocals and atmospheric performances from Dublin to Germany, this isn’t a band to miss. The Dublin-based metal band formed in 2016, combining melodic doom and gothic metal with themes of the human condition and fate. Most famously known for their songs “The Golden Bough”, “The Hunt Eternal” and “A Call to Men of Noble Blood”.

Genuflection

Last but certainly not least is the Galway-based doom metal band known as Genuflection. Galway’s rising stars formed in 2018. Most known for their songs such as “Of Wolves Kin”, “Wraith” and “Besieged by Deceased”. Despite being the youngest group in this line, Genuflections’ live performances have been regarded as building up an energy that cannot be destroyed.

That is just the beginning, as more line-ups are to be announced. With guitars tuned for a maximum weekend of fun, spirit and noise. TORANN: Metal and Punk Festival promises to be an unforgettable start to the New Year.
