New Year, same old Morrissey, the former Smiths singer, has officially cancelled his California concerts “due to an adverse reaction to a prescription medication”. The now 66-year-old has issued a statement. “Please hold onto your tickets as they will be honoured for a rescheduled date. Should you wish to request a refund, please contact your original point of purchase.” This comes after multiple cancelled shows in recent years.
Charming Man Cancels Concerts
Fans can’t help but point out the numerous concerts Morrissey has been cancelling over the last few years. Throughout 2025, he cancelled multiple concerts, including concerts in Boston, CT. and five more in South America, due to “extreme exhaustion”. In the Nordic fanbase, Morrissey cancelled a concert in June 2025 in Stockholm due to “zero music industry support”. Quite a few of these concerts were cancelled due to credible threats including gun violence. “In recent days, there has been a credible threat on Morrissey’s life. Out of an abundance of caution for the safety of both the artist and audience, tonight’s engagement at Foxwoods has been cancelled. We appreciate your understanding”.
Latest Cancelled Concerts
Morrissey’s first two concerts of the year have been cancelled. They were set to take place in Rancho Mirage and San Diego, California, on the 3rd and 6th of January, respectively. On the Morrissey-Solo website, the statement said the concerts were cancelled due to “an adverse reaction to a prescription medication.” No further medical information has been released. There are no further concerts set in California, or rescheduled dates announced so far.
Morrissey’s next concert is set to be in San Antonio, Texas, on January 10th. It will be his first time playing in San Antonio in 15 years.
In 2026, fans are hoping that Morrissey stays in good health and continues his tour, breaking this streak of cancelled shows.
