Phil Campbell the long standing guitarist for Mötorhead has died at the age of 64. Family of Campbell confirmed that he died “peacefully” on Friday night following a major operation.

Phil was Mötorhead’s guitarist for 31 years. He was an amazing guitarist, writer and performer. His guitar work was central to much of the bands best successes. He was a central figure to the band’s fame and there’s no doubt that his legacy will live on for decades.

Born in Pontypridd Wales, Campbell began his journey as a legendary guitarist. He developed a passion for music at a young age. Phil’s career took off in 1984 when he joined Mötorhead. The group helped to pioneer heavy metal and create a cultural phenomenon.

Phil was known as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was known as one of the most influential guitarists in heavy metal. He kept on touring with his sons with his own band Phil Campbell & the Bastards Sons. His work inspired many and his contribution to the metal world will live on.
